Group Cooperation (from Kayu)

Overall, becasue of each group members fully pay attention and cooperate with each other, and therefore we could be able to get both videos done within three days during the Easter break. Moreover, everyonw did a very good job as thier own post and duty, especially the group leader where he spread up the work and job for the group member, so that each one received equal works. (No one get less and no one get more) Since, there was no one coming up to argue about the load of the job, and I reckon it is a pretty good sign for the begining of a group work.

There is one thing I really appreciate with, in which is each group memebr is patient enough to listen to any idea from different members. For example, remember the ad we did, it did not follow the intial idea that we planned before. (Becasue we are realized hat it is extremely difficult to film active puppy) Basically, most of the scenes in the finally outcome were the decision we made on the spot. At that moment, I still remember each of us has given different suggestion. Such as, filming location, shooting angle, different movement in the the camera and so on. (Just said we need to start another movie from zero, and there is no time for us to make plan first. If each one is hardly to accept opinion and just go for the one they think about, and then it will be impossible to finish a brand new video which everyone feels satisfied whith it) Seems like the group noticed the situation we were in at that time, and did not want that worst condition from happening. Therefore, we have to cooperate to allow everyone workings under a good atmosphere.

Even though we are not any so called professional. However, we eventually did 2 OK videos within a short period, and can be able to maintain this kind of group work. I reckon we had already done the best job.

Ps. That was a very good chance to experience how to work properly with a group. Thanks for every group member.

conclusion

Although we finally finish our video which aims to help raising awareness from people of animal welfare issues. I think our group cooperate really well. Firstly, the idea of video comes to a yes from every group member. Although sometimes we've got different point of views, but then in the end we sort out peacefully because the whole group wants to work together. If different group member insists on working their own idea, it is not possible for us to complete on time.

I feel lucky that RSPCA can do an interview with us and they also bring us a dog waiting to be adopted for interview as well because we contact them in a rush, so initially I don't think we can do it so successfully. Another video although is short, but then it took quite a long time to shoot it because it is outdoors. But at the end, we still can finish it.

I hope this two videos can help a bit to promote the awareness although it is really a small production and we are not professionals. The stray animals problem may not be as serious as those in developing countries, but then we should still put more effort in supporting the animals protection organization as they are doing a hard job. The simplest thing we can do is when we become a pet owner, we should be a responsible one and when we see any stray animals, try to contact relevant organizations to save them. If each of us contributes a bit, the whole world will change into a better place for animals.

Finally, I would like to thank my group mates for being so supportive throughout the semester as the group work is hard, the RSPCA for helping us to do the interview and also the help given by the teacher in every stage of our production.

Left to do...

Overall it was fun doing the research upon our topics and understanding the job of organisations such as the RSPCA. My group members and I enjoyed the shooting of both our videos and learnt a lot of skills which will definately help us in the future.

Our main focus after this would mainly be the editing process and hopefully the main videos will turn out the way we wanted at the beginning of this project. I would like to thank all my group members for their efforts in making this project and blog posibble. Thanks guys!

Video N Organisations

I have no words for this video....All I can say is IT NEEDS TO STOP!

We need to realise the cruelty these animals are being victims of and bring about changes in their lives. The least we can do is support organisations developed to fight for these voiceless creatures some of these include:

  • RSPCA
  • PETA
  • OIPA
  • OIE
  • SAFE

Please help supporting them!

Overall Evaluation of the Project

Production Skills

As this was the second experience of having professional exercise with actual camera equipment, most of members knew how to treat the camera and use the equipment in the right way. However, there always occur mistakes and unskilled things. I realised that drawing and imagining the scenes in the mind and the taking these scenes in the reality are slightly different so I had to change the original treatment slightly. The film became much longer than what I had planned. Moreover, finding and fixing good camera angles and positions took a long time and gave many NGs. I worked as a camera operator as well for both films and my group members helped me with fixing the shot angles and size to look good.

Difficulty of filming a dog

Filming a dog was very harder than what I had expected. It was hard to catch good shots of dog because the dog was running all the time. Kayu’s dog was supposed to look like an abandoned dog but the dog looked so happy and exciting to come out from home. Our group members had to put so much effort on controlling and managing the dog to be calm and relaxed. After spending 2 hours, we were able to complete the shooting film with the dog.

Team Cooperation

Our group members were all nice, kind and cooperative so I was able to finish the film project with a nice atmosphere. They all helped each other during the filming. We all shared the ideas about the film if there are any problems or need for any development. Also, they all acted from a sense of duty to care the camera equipment as they all helped with each other to set up and carry the camera.

Even though our films had mild problems such as time management and immature production skills, it was very good experience about learning professional production skills including reviewing the skills from the last semester and developing the skills. Group project can be very hard if there are conflicts but our group members worked hard and participated in the project with good attitude. They all respected each other and tried their best to help each other. Even though the film is not very perfect and it was a process to learn more about production skills in detail, I really enjoyed producing the short video with my group members and this film will be the milestone for the development of my next film.

Evaluation of Team Work

Firstly, all of our group members were really nice to work with. Although we divided our each roles for the project, everyone helped each other and also, if someone get the ideas or suggestion for the film, we shared and discussed together.

However, there was also a problem that we had poor time management to take the video. For example, for our second filming, we did not scheduled properly so that it took more 2 hours than we expected.

Overall, although there was a little problem, I think it was really great opportunity to experience and learning production skills and how to work as a group properly. Sometimes, we had difficulty but we tried to respect and communicate each other. Therefore, I was really happy to work with them and could do my best for my group and films as well.

Final Campaign Poster

Hello Members, this is the final poster of our campaign (Mates in Love: I think Therefore I am). I changed the design slightly because the previous poster that i designed was too simple and too similar with our brochure. I think the contrast of yellow and black colour is very good as we can see the text very clear. I added some other photos of animals in the poster because I want people to see the different emotions of the animals (sad, happy, lonely and hungry). This poster delivers a message saying that animals can think and feel just like humans. Therefore, they can’t be abandoned and treated badly. They should be protected and loved by people.

Anyway I hope this poster works well. Thanks guys.
